Remember Me
c Bev Zizzy
When I was just a little girl, I watched her dance and sing so well
She was everything to me, like her I would someday be
Then I grew up and left my home,
All round this big old world I did roam
Traveling far and running free, I discovered she is me.
Now I sit here with heavy heart watching her bittersweet life depart
Hardest thing I’ve ever done, was make my mama leave her home
For she was always there for me, now what can I do to set her free?
Chains she bears without a groan, encage her mind & leave her all alone.
Will she remember me today?
She’s the one who taught me to smile this way
She showed me how to laugh and how to play.
Will she remember me today?
Now I have children of my own, one day they’ll leave their mama’s home
Though it has been a happy place, the taste of freedom they will embrace
With them I’ve sung, I’ve danced, I’ve played the music’s never gone away
These gifts my mama gave so well, deep inside them they now dwell.
Will she remember me today?
She’s the one who taught me to smile this way
She showed me how to laugh and how to play.
Will she remember me today?
Her memories have fallen along with the leaves.
Autumn’s succumbed to a cold winter breeze
Her eyes are now vacant, her body is weak
But her spirit lives on, she lives on, she lives on inside of me.
Her spirit lives on, she lives on, she lives on inside of me.
